Abstract:

The article deals with the questions of style, harmony, melodicism and musical structure of piano works by D.D. Shostakovich. The author concludes that Shostakovich´s style is a synthesis of original and traditional elements. In the harmony of the composer´s works it is possible to note the diatonic base, which stands on folk origins. Shostakovich´s melody is characterized by subtle genre connections, graphically clear line, natural minor with matte shade. In musical structure of piano works by D.D. Shostakovich´s we can see interpenetration and unification of homophone and polyphonic principles of thinking.
